Editorial Intern – Trotman Indigo Publishing (5-month contract, remote)

About the job

Trotman Indigo Publishing is seeking an editorial intern to join our small, friendly team on a 5-month contract commencing in September 2024. 

The role will primarily involve working on one of our annual education titles, Heap 2026: University Degree Course Offers, our best-selling guide to entrance requirements for university degree courses in the UK. The successful applicant will be responsible for updating content for the book, working alongside our editors. The information will need to be carefully researched and all the updated material accurately loaded onto the book’s database.

In addition, the successful candidate will carry out a variety of everyday administrative tasks typically carried out by an editorial assistant. They will also take part in weekly online meetings with the wider Trotman team and occasional in-person meetings.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking for valuable experience in publishing, particularly in a busy editorial department.

 

Key attributes and experience

The ideal candidate will be a recent graduate with excellent written English skills, a keen eye for detail, some experience of text editing and rewriting, and a demonstrable interest in publishing.

 Other desirable qualities include:

  • Strong organisation and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and use own initiative
  • Proficiency in conducting research and fact-checking
  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Aptitude for writing clear, accurate and engaging copy
  • Enthusiasm and fresh ideas.

 

Further information

This is a full-time internship (37.5 hours a week) for a fixed term of 5 months.

Salary: The current national living wage rate (currently £11.44ph for those aged 21 and over).

Location: The role will be remote. The ability to commute to attend in-person team meetings in Swindon approximately once every 6 weeks would be preferred but is not essential.
