Requesting an Inspection Copy
Educators can request a free inspection copy (sometimes referred to as exam or examination copies, review copies, and evaluation copies) to assess a book’s suitability for course adoption.
Eligibility
- Inspection copies are available to qualified teaching staff at recognised academic institutions.
- Requests must come from lecturers, tutors, module leaders or other educators responsible for choosing or recommending course materials.
- By submitting a request you confirm that the title is being considered for adoption on a course you teach and that you can provide feedback if asked.
Request Review
- Each request is reviewed individually to verify eligibility.
- We reserve the right to approve or decline any request at our discretion.
Format and Delivery
- Inspection copies will be supplied in digital format.
- The format and delivery method are determined by us.
- You are responsible for ensuring your device meets the technical requirements for access.
- If you adopt one of our titles as required reading and can provide proof of a library purchase, we will supply you with a print copy for teaching use.
- In some cases we may also consider supplying a print copy where the title is adopted as recommended reading. This will be decided at our discretion.
Conditions of Use
- Inspection copies are for personal and institutional evaluation only.
- They must not be copied, shared, sold, lent or distributed to others.
- Titles may not be retained or resold once the evaluation period has ended if we request their return.
Withdrawal of Service
- We may amend, suspend or withdraw the inspection copy service at any time.
- Access may be revoked if these terms are not followed.
Intellectual Property
- All rights, including copyright and other intellectual property rights, remain with us or our licensors.
- Nothing in the provision of an inspection copy transfers ownership or rights in the material.
Liability
- Inspection copies are provided “as is” without any warranty as to content, accuracy or suitability.
- We accept no responsibility for loss or damage arising from their use.

Who can request an inspection copy?
Our Inspection Copy Service is available to qualified instructors and lecturers at recognised academic institutions who wish to review a title for possible use on a module they teach.
By submitting the Inspection Copy request form, you confirm that you are a teaching academic and that you will provide feedback on the suitability of the title for your course. Once we receive your form, we will review your details and determine whether you are eligible to receive an Inspection Copy. Additional information may be requested to complete this process. Our decision will be final.
If your request is approved, you agree to respond to follow-up emails requesting feedback on the title’s suitability for your module.

Inspection copies are delivered as eBooks to ensure fast, easy access and to reduce environmental impact.
How long will it take to receive my copy?
You’ll usually receive access instructions for your eBook after we have reviewed your request. This will typically take 3-5 business days.
Print copies are typically delivered within 7–10 business days.
