  • Sarah Campbell

    Managing Director

    Sarah has over 20 years’ experience across the academic, educational and professional publishing sectors. She was previously Editorial Director and co-founder at Rowman & Littlefield International and has held senior positions at Bloomsbury and Continuum. In addition she is co-founder and director of Parrot Street Book Club, an independent online bookshop and subscription book club for children.

    Best piece of advice you've been given: Never lose sight of your audience – publish the books they need, not the books you think you want to sell.
  • Nicola Cattini

    Commissioning Editor

    Nicola has been working in publishing for over ten years, with experience across academic, digital, professional and educational publishing. Starting out as an Editorial Assistant in the textbook division at Palgrave Macmillan, she progressed into a Commissioning Editor role, covering the Theatre and Performing Arts list. She next worked as a Development Editor for AM, travelling to archives, museums and libraries around the world to develop digital primary source collections.

    Best piece of advice you've been given: Don’t proofread and approve a cover last thing before you log off for the day. It’s safer to approach it with fresh eyes in the morning!
  • Ben Dorning

    Sales Manager

    Ben is Trotman's Sales Manager, which means he is busy with getting our books out into the world and in front of the readers they can make the biggest difference to. Ben draws on a wide-ranging background of working with careers leaders, teachers, booksellers,librarians, and academics - anyone involved with books and reading.

    Best piece of advice you've been given: For work to matter, it's got to matter to you. Or in other words, always have skin in the game! 
  • Claire Lawlor

    Marketing Manager

    Claire brings a wealth of experience in marketing and e-commerce, having held roles at WHSmith Online, Butterworth-Heinemann, Oxfam, Pearson, and as Head of E-commerce at the University of Oxford Shop. She recently completed a master’s in counselling and uses these new skills as a volunteer counsellor with Riverside Counselling Service. At Trotman, Claire is passionate about combining her love for publishing with her dedication to mental health and personal development.

    Best piece of advice you've been given: If a customer tells you what they need, listen!
  • Alexandra Price

    Commissioning Editor

    Alexandra is an experienced publisher who has held senior roles at various educational, professional and academic presses over the years, including Palgrave Macmillan and Continuum International. She loves the fact that commissioning is a collaborative process and different for every book! She finds it a joy and privilege to work closely with Trotman's dedicated, expert authors to ensure the books they publish are of the highest quality, and as helpful and engaging for readers as possible.

    Best piece of advice you've been given: Always be confident when approaching authors about writing a book - whether they’re the most eminent academic or already a successful author, everyone likes to be asked!
  • Rani Race

    Sales and Marketing Assistant

    Rani is Trotman's newest team member! She’s held several roles at the University of Leeds, including social media manager, events strategist, and alumni advancement assistant. She also hosted a radio show about art and music, which sparked her love for creative communication. As a recent graduate, Rani feels closely connected to students and is excited to be part of a team that helps young people make confident, informed choices about their futures.

    Best piece of advice you've been given: You don’t need decades of experience to make a meaningful contribution. Your ideas are valid, and you bring a fresh perspective!
  • Louisa Smith

    Managing Editor

    Louisa is an experienced editorial project manager with a strong background in non-fiction publishing, having previously worked at Parragon Books. At Trotman, she collaborates closely with our production partner, Deanta, to manage the editorial process from manuscript to publication. She also provides support to our authors throughout the production process. As a qualified proofreader, Louisa brings a sharp eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy, ensuring that every title meets the highest standards of quality and consistency.

    Best piece of advice you've been given: Don’t let perfectionism trip you up! What matters most is clarity: making sure that the finished book communicates the author’s message and supports the reader’s experience.
