Liz Painter is a freelance career development professional, has an MA in Careers Education and Coaching and is registered with the CDI.
She was a science teacher for 24 years and led a range of STEM activities across the school, including clubs, cross-curricular collaboration days and STEM in PSHCE programmes. Liz was invited to speak at two Inside Government conferences about encouraging girls into STEM careers.
After leaving teaching in 2019, she joined the Cheshire and Warrington LEP where she supported school with their careers education programme and facilitated employer engagement activities. In 2021, Liz began to concentrate on her freelance portfolio. She delivers training and creates resources for teachers, helping to bring career learning into the classroom. Liz has worked on projects for a number of organisations, including STEM Learning, developing career-related resources for educators and young people.
Liz’s personal interests involve supporting environmental charities and trying to live more sustainably. Researching for the second edition of STEM Careers led Liz to develop deeper understanding of sustainability and its intersection between our career, industry and the planet.
A successful career in science teaching and the academic knowledge of career development puts Liz in the unique position of understanding what both teacher and young people will find useful in supporting the transition from education into employment.
