All round fantastic resource book for teachers, parents and students.

This book gives a fantastic overview of all of the key elements and stages of the process of having a successful application to Oxford or Cambridge University. The step by step format ensures it is clear and logical to work through the process and enables jumping to key sections if required. The author has a very accessible and engaging tone and manner throughout which brings the advice to life. The use of personal experiences from the author and the inclusion of a range of case studies makes this process and possible entry to these world renowned institutions seem both possible and more appealing to students from a non-independent school background.

Motivating and informative: A comprehensive guide to applying to Oxbridge.

If you are considering applying to the University of Oxford or Cambridge, then this book serves as a useful, positive guide. It answers a range of queries you may have about the application process and also helps you to examine your reasons for pursuing this route and what studying at Oxbridge will be like.

There is a clear timetable for action that helps you to keep focused. Chapters relate to elements of the application process, making this an easy guide to dip into, as needed over time. It includes examples of subject reading, personal statements and interview guidance. I recommend reading it in full first. This will help you to fully consider your academic interest and ambition and your skills of critical analysis and reflection. There are insightful case studies, consideration of the range of applicants and detailed college profile information including financial support.

This book is equally useful for new Careers Development Practitioners, to add depth to the guidance process, and for new Post 16 Professionals, who support potential applicants. It provides a range of useful applicant tips and insights. Consider having a copy you can refer to in student meetings, along with making this available for students too.
