Great informative book that simplifies the process of applying to Psychology degrees.

The book is comprehensive but at the same time easy to find the sections that are needed for staff and students. There is a simple explanation of different types of Psychology and the UCAS application and how to gain work experience in this sector. The chapter that will really help students will be the chapter on personal statements as in my experience this is what students struggle with the most.

The book even has a chapter that offers information about varying universities that offer Pschology and looks at the pros and cons of doing it as a BsC or BA. It looks at some course content and considers the degrees that are accredited. This book will help teachers support their students in applying to university and students alike.

This book has helped the students who has read it

I have students with a range of abilities and a range of aspirations for further education. Any of them whom want to study psychology at the next stage of education have been able to look at this book and no matter where they are in the application process have been able to quickly dip into the book and become instantly reassured that process is manageable and that they have support. I have found a difference in the knowledge of the process between students who have looked through this book and the students who have not. Highly recommend to prevent that overwhelming UCAS feeling.

Such an informative and eye-opening read.

Getting into Psychology courses, is a book worth adding to any Careers Advisers library. A quick easy read, this book is laid out in a very logical, easy to follow order, that takes the student from understanding what psychology is really about, to what careers they can get, as well as what work experience would be relevant for their chosen career path. The degree information, along with how to complete their UCAS application and write their personal statement are extremely informative and contain some real nuggets of information. The tips given about how to succeed in an interview makes for an interesting read, and I am really pleased that information about results day and fees and funding were included as these areas can sometimes be overlooked.

I can see these this book becoming a well-used resource in our library, and we will certainly be investing in other titles.
