Society of Authors
Professional advice, support and networking
The Society of Authors is the UK trade union for writers, illustrators and literary translators. It provides advice and support to authors at different stages of their careers, as well as running events, awards and other activities.

Authors' Licensing and Collecting Society (ALCS)
Copyright, secondary rights and author payments
ALCS helps writers receive payments when their work is copied, reproduced or otherwise used after publication. It also provides useful resources explaining copyright, contracts and secondary rights.

Royal Literary Fund
Opportunities, resources and support for professional writers
The Royal Literary Fund supports professional writers across the UK through grants, programmes and opportunities to share their expertise. Its Fellowship programme places professional writers in universities and other institutions, while its wider resources include information about organisations, funding and opportunities for writers.
Its focus on writers working within education and its network across UK universities may be helpful when promoting your book.
