Dave Cordle
Dave Cordle RCDP is an independent career coach focusing on helping young people and adults create their career and life by design rather than default.
Since 2001, Dave has worked with thousands of adults across a wide range of careers and professions and at all levels, quite literally from shop floor to board room. He has increasingly worked with young people, keen that they enter the workforce with the skills to create work they love that supports the lifestyle they want.
Dave has served on the board of directors of the Institute of Career Certification International and chaired their Global Career Council for eight years. He is a Fellow of the CDI and served as president and chair of the board of directors of The CDI from 2019–21.
His background, both professionally and personally inform his work. His own career started in cartography, largely mapping Africa and latterly gas pipelines in the south of England. As digital mapping emerged, Dave changed career, retraining as a computer systems developer, starting with coding and moving on to business analysis, project leading and user support. Redundancy and support from career coaches prompted a second career change into career coaching.
Outside work, Dave is a mountaineer and explorer, undertaking expeditions in both polar regions, the Himalayas, Andes and other ranges, as well as UK mountains. He is a former school governor, has held various leadership roles in the Scout Association and is a volunteer swim teacher.
Career coaching brings these threads together, helping people map their careers (cartography) and find more efficient ways to reach career goals (computing). Careers require planning, and the resilience to overcome challenges along the way, eventually reaching those metaphorical mountain peaks of your career, where you can look out on the landscape and decide on the next career adventure.
