Michael Larbalestier
Michael is a digital learning and innovation specialist with extensive experience in career development, having trained and worked as a Careers Adviser in the 1990’s and went on to lead innovation and digital learning within career and employability companies.
He is a Fellow of the National Institute for Career and Education Counselling (NICEC), an active member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and a tutor, teaching on career guidance and careers leader courses for the Career Development Institute (CDI).
He co-developed and teaches on the CDI’s popular AI for Career Practitioners six-week blended course, helping advisers build practical prompting, verification, governance and accessibility skills. Michael also delivers hands-on, in-person workshops for careers practitioners working with diverse client groups, from young people in schools and colleges to adults in FE, HE and corporate settings. His focus is on safe, ethical and effective use of AI in day-to-day practice.
Alongside his sector training, Michael is an Associate Lecturer at the University of Roehampton (Faculty of Business and Law), teaching undergraduate and postgraduate modules across management and HR. His consulting work supports career and employability organisations to develop digital and AI strategy, build staff capability, and implement proportionate governance so technology enhances, rather than replaces, professional judgement.
