Key Reviews
"Michael Larbelestier’s and Marianne Wilson’s AI Toolkit for Careers Practitioners ... meets a definite need in the profession.
From the outset, the authors acknowledge that readers will approach this book with different levels of familiarity with AI, as well as different practical needs. Neither an ‘AI for beginners’ manual, nor a dense academic treatise, this book takes a different approach, equipping the reader with the knowledge and skills to use AI skilfully and effectively. Starting with a general introduction (that includes some much-needed myth busting), the authors move on to the wider social and ethical implications of this technology, and its implications for career development work. Detailed practical examples of how AI might be used in practice ground the book in the ‘coalface’ of practice, while the final section of the book offers welcome definitions of the myriad technical terms that inevitably form part of this subject.
This book is, as its title says, a ‘toolkit’. By adopting the approach of providing the reader with a ‘compass’ (to use the authors’ own metaphor), rather than a ‘map’, this volume will, I think, remain relevant and vital for many years, despite the dynamic and fast-changing nature of its subject. I cannot recommend it highly enough."
